01How much does it cost to charter a yacht in La Paz, Mexico?

An overnight yacht charter out of La Paz starts at $6,300 USD per night on the Lagoon 55 catamaran and $7,300 USD per night on the Monte Fino 84, reaching $14,000 USD per night on the Azimut 90. That is the price for the whole yacht, not per person, and it already includes the APA — crew and fuel. Charters run 1 to 7 nights.

02How much is a private yacht charter in Cabo San Lucas?

Cabo day charters run 4, 6 or 8 hours. The Van Dutch 48 starts at $2,900 USD for up to 10 guests, the Sunseeker 80 at $5,550 USD for up to 16, and the Northern 130 at $14,500 USD for groups up to 20. Captain, crew, fuel and menu are inside those figures; 16% tax is added on card payments and waived in cash.

03What does an all-inclusive yacht charter actually include?

On every charter: a licensed captain and crew, fuel, a menu you choose, soft drinks and mineral water, snorkel gear, and paddleboards or kayaks on the yachts that carry them. Overnight charters add a private chef and full board with the APA already inside the nightly rate. Left out: crew tips (10-15% is customary) and 16% sales tax on card payments.

04Can I charter a yacht from La Paz to Espiritu Santo and Los Islotes?

Yes — it is the route we run most. Marina Cortez to Isla Espiritu Santo is roughly 90 minutes under way, and Los Islotes, where the sea lion colony is, sits about 40 minutes past Isla Partida. It works as an 8-hour day charter, but the islands open up properly on 2 or 3 nights, when you anchor in the coves instead of turning around. Balandra is on the way out.

05What is the best multi-night charter in the Sea of Cortez?

Our 3-night Sea of Cortez Signature is the one most guests book and the one we would pick ourselves: Espiritu Santo, Isla Partida and the sea lions at Los Islotes, from $10,400 USD per group. Two nights covers Balandra and Ensenada Grande from $7,500 USD. Five nights reaches Isla San Jose and Cerralvo from $15,500 USD — that is the one for people who want anchorages other boats do not reach.

06La Paz or Cabo San Lucas — which is right for my trip?

Sleeping aboard, islands and whale sharks → La Paz, 1 to 7 nights through Espiritu Santo, Isla Partida and the northern islands. A celebration, a group that flew in for the weekend, El Arco and a snorkel stop → Cabo San Lucas, 4 to 8 hours. Same fleet standard, two different trips — and they are 2 hours apart by road if you want both.

07How do I know a yacht charter company in Mexico is legitimate?

Ask for six things, from us or from anyone else quoting you: a trademark on file (ours is IMPI-registered, 2021-2031), a legal entity that can take your money (YACHTSMX LLC in the US for USD), a written contract from a real booking system (in use since 2023), verified Instagram and WhatsApp, licensed bilingual crew, and an office you can walk into — ours are in La Paz and San Jose del Cabo. Superyachts are contracted under MYBA / CYBA terms.

08When is the best time of year to charter in Baja California Sur?

October through June is the season worth planning around: flat water, warm swimming and almost no hurricane risk. Whale sharks feed off La Paz from October to April, and gray whales show up around Cabo January through March. July to September is hurricane season — we still sail, but bring flexible dates.

09How far ahead should I book, and how do I pay?

Day charters: 2 to 4 weeks out, but Christmas, New Year, Spring Break and July 4th need 2 to 3 months. Multi-night Sea of Cortez charters: 1 to 3 months. The 10-night Grand Voyage is planned 4 months ahead or more. Payment goes by bank transfer or wire in USD or MXN, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, or cash on arrival — cash skips the 16% IVA. A 50% deposit holds the date and the balance is due 14 days before departure.
