Fractional yacht ownership in Mexico - motor yacht anchored in the Sea of Cortez, La Paz BCS

Own a share of the yacht. Skip the rest.

Fractional yacht ownership splits the purchase price, the marina slip, the crew and the maintenance between a small group of owners. You keep guaranteed time on board. You drop the full-time cost. Six yachts in La Paz currently have shares available, from 20% up.

Brokered by Yates Mexico · Chartered and managed by YACHTSMX · Since 2017

Six yachts in La Paz. Shares from 20%. Hulls from 51 to 84 feet. One team since 2017.

Three owners, one yacht, zero logistics.

Fractional yacht ownership works like a real estate co-investment, not a timeshare rental. You hold a titled share of a specific vessel, with your name on the paperwork and a scheduled block of days each season.

You buy a share, not a week

Shares run from 20% to 50% of a specific hull. You sign for a defined percentage of the vessel and its title, alongside two to four other owners vetted by our brokerage.

Fixed costs split by that same percentage

Slip, insurance, crew payroll, haul-outs, annual service, Mexican flag paperwork. One monthly statement, your share of it, nothing hidden at the end of the season.

We run the boat while you are away

Our marine management team handles the calendar, the crew and the upkeep out of Marina Cortez. Unused days can be released to the YACHTSMX charter fleet to offset your share of the costs.

Every line item, split at signing.

A 76-foot yacht in La Paz carries roughly the same annual running cost whether it leaves the dock forty days a year or two hundred. Fractional ownership is simply the decision to stop absorbing that cost alone.

  • Docking and marina feesSlip at Marina Cortez, Marina Costa Baja or Marina La Paz, plus power and water.
  • Maintenance and repairsScheduled service, bottom jobs, haul-outs and the unplanned items that always appear.
  • Crew salariesCaptain and deckhand on payroll year-round, so the boat is ready the day you land.
  • Insurance and taxesHull and liability cover, Mexican registry, temporary import permit and annual filings.
  • Fuel and operating costsFuel is billed per outing to whoever is on board, so light users never subsidise heavy ones.

Four coasts where a share actually makes sense.

Mexico has become a serious market for fractional yacht ownership: deep-water marinas, year-round cruising and running costs well below Florida or the Mediterranean. Our own shares sit in La Paz, where we operate.

La Paz

Our home port and where all six available shares sit. Espiritu Santo, Balandra and the Sea of Cortez are a morning away.

Cabo San Lucas

Sport fishing and day charters. Strong charter demand means idle days convert to income more easily here.

Puerto Vallarta

Protected bay, sailing weather most of the year and quiet anchorages south towards Yelapa.

Cancun & Riviera Maya

Clear water, high-end marinas and the shortest hop to Isla Mujeres and Cozumel.

Four questions. Three yeses and we should talk.

01

Do you want yacht ownership without carrying the full financial burden of a hull you use 40 days a year?

02

Are you comfortable booking your days in advance on a shared calendar, with holidays rotating each season?

03

Would you rather have a professional crew and a marine manager than handle port paperwork and mechanics yourself?

04

Do you plan to spend real time in Baja rather than buying a yacht that sits in another country?

Fractional ownership, asked plainly.

How much does a yacht share cost in Mexico?
Shares in our current La Paz inventory start around 20% of the hull value. The six yachts listed here are published between $210,000 and $2,200,000 USD for the full vessel, so a 20% to 25% share typically lands between $42,000 and $550,000 USD depending on the boat. Annual running costs are split by the same percentage and quoted per yacht before you sign.
Is fractional yacht ownership the same as a timeshare?
No. A timeshare sells you the right to use something for a period. Fractional ownership sells you a titled percentage of a specific vessel: your name appears on the ownership documents, you share in the asset value, and you can resell your share. The scheduling feels similar, but the legal position is completely different.
How many days a year do I get on board?
Your allocation matches your share. A 25% owner gets roughly a quarter of the operating calendar, which in La Paz runs close to 300 usable days, so about 70 to 75 days. High-demand dates such as Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving rotate between owners year to year so no one holds the same week permanently.
Can I charter out the days I do not use?
Yes, and most owners do. Unused days can be released to the YACHTSMX charter fleet in La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. Charter revenue is applied against your share of the annual operating budget. It rarely covers the entire cost, but on an active hull it meaningfully reduces it.
What happens if I want to sell my share?
Shares are listed for resale through Yates Mexico, the brokerage arm that handled the original sale. Existing co-owners normally get first refusal, then the share goes to the open market. Because the ticket is a fraction of a full yacht, shares generally move faster than whole-boat listings.
Can a foreigner co-own a yacht flagged in Mexico?
Yes. Foreign buyers commonly hold shares through a Mexican company or under a temporary import permit, depending on how the vessel is flagged and used. Our gestor marino handles registry, flag changes and permits as part of the management agreement, and we walk you through the structure before you commit.

Tell us the yacht. We will send the split.

Send us the hull you are interested in and how many days a year you expect to use it. We come back with the share price, the annual budget for your percentage, and what the charter offset realistically looks like. No obligation, no broker fee to you.
